OUR STORY
The roots of La Cantina Winery trace back to Santa Maria del Molise, Italy-a small farming village known for its natural springs and rich vineyard soil. It was there, in the mid-1900s, that our family’s winemaking tradition began-simple, honest, and deeply connected to the land.
In 1963, my grandfather, Ottavio, brought that tradition to Franklin, Massachusetts. Guided by his philosophy-respect the process, use quality ingredients, and create wine meant to be shared-the craft continued in our family home.
For more than a decade, I carried that tradition forward in our basement, learning the process hands-on and refining the techniques passed down to me. What began as a humble, small-scale operation has since grown into a state-of-the-art wine facility, while staying true to the principles that started it all.
Today, I blend those traditional methods with the formal training I received at UC Davis, bringing together old-world craftsmanship and modern understanding to define La Cantina Winery.
We source our grapes from Suisun Valley, California, allowing us to produce wines with depth, balance, and character while remaining true to our roots.
La Cantina Winery was built on a love of bringing people together. What began with family and friends has grown into a place where guests can experience that same spirit through thoughtfully crafted wines, a scratch kitchen, and food prepared in our stone hearth oven.
From grape to glass, everything we do reflects our belief in quality, simplicity, and sharing the experience.
Philosophy
At La Cantina Winery, we believe in keeping things simple, intentional, and rooted in quality. Our kitchen is built on a scratch philosophy, where every dish begins with carefully selected, seasonal ingredients sourced with purpose. From our Neapolitan pizza to our tapas, everything is prepared in-house and cooked in our stone hearth oven, bringing out depth, character, and a true sense of craft.
Our wine program is equally thoughtful. We source our grapes from Suisun Valley, California, a region known for its character, balance, and depth. This allows us to craft wines that are expressive, approachable, and designed to pair seamlessly with our food.
Above all, La Cantina Winery is about creating a place that feels warm, social, and local. It’s a space where guests can gather, unwind, and enjoy great wine and honest food in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
